Biography

Born in 1893, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 9th Battalion DLI in 1912 and fought in Belgium in 1915, before being given a Regular commission and moving to 2 DLI in early 1916. He was awarded the Military Cross in 1916. After the Great War, he served as a Captain with the West African Frontier Force and then as Adjutant of 1 DLI and later 8 DLI. He retired in 1938 to become Town Major of Jerusalem.

During the Second World War he was re-employed on troopship duties and finally retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1947.

Eric Dryden died in 1954 at Newry in Northern Ireland
